'Newton' Review

While this maybe one of those movies which doesn't have a star-studded cast or an informative trailer, once you see the reviews and ratings, you'll start wanting to watch this movie. So, in an unwilling and unsure state of mind, I went to watch the movie with hardly any expectations (that too only because it was the candidate film for nomination in Oscars).

As soon as I sat in the movie hall, my expectations were further dimmed because only half (hardly) the hall was full which is unlikely for a good movie. But consoling my mind, I tried to look at the positives as the movie began.

Talking about the movie, it was a light yet a virtuous movie, which is something the Indian cinema hasn't seen for many years. This was a movie you could actually call drama (unlike most other Bollywood films), because it had comedy, action, adventure, a bit of (hardly any) suspense, war and was built on real life situations. While this isn't usually associated with Bollywood films, this was indeed a movie that can and should be watched by almost everybody. Otherwise, Indian movies are usually romance, action, biopics, comedy, family or adventure.

Looking at the negatives (though there are hardly any), it is a movie which has abrupt endings in both the halves and like most Indian movies, it was the first half which was more interesting and the second half was more like an extended climax.

Giving you a bit of insight, it is based on the situation of voters in rural and war hit areas of places like Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand and gives us a message while making us laugh and often keeping us on the edges of seats.

So, I request you to please watch this movie and recommend the same to others so that we can indirectly further influence people to vote for their leaders which will help in establishing a better democracy and thus a better India.
