Pollution in Delhi has now indeed become an issue that can't be overlooked anymore. It has grown over the years due to our doings and ignorance.
What has really caused an alarming peak in pollution levels, is that farmers in the neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana are burning their crop waste. And with Diwali knocking the door with a bagful of fire-crackers, pollution in Delhi might reach extreme crisis situation.
Talking about the solutions that have already been implemented, we have the one which is named 'ODD-EVEN'. This was brought in Delhi after seeing the success it had gained in Beijing which had also become an overly polluted city. But, the same didn't happen in the national capital as no reduction in the level of pollution was seen, nor was any in the traffic, unlike to what was predicted by the Delhi government.
To avoid the impending endangerment of people of Delhi, the first steps have to be taken by us. Using CNG cars, burning less crackers during Diwali, carpooling are some solutions towards paving a way to a pollution-free Delhi. Government can help by convincing farmers to not burn the crop waste and trade it as food for cows. Though, these are a bunch of cliché solutions, but they are the way to prevent a harmful situation.
To conclude, I would like to say that it is us who also have a huge role to play in causing and curing pollution. Hence, we shouldn't just rely on the government and expect them to clean our mess.
